The Inescapable Desire of Roots (2024)

A man with hair growing wildly over his body is taken by a mania of ecstasy and anguish. He struggles with the hair becoming a means of discipline and punishment against himself, while being overwhelmed by the explosive jubilance of its sprouting. In this bizarre vision, overlaid 16mm and Super 8 film loop projections created with the filmmakers’ own hair, clash in existential rage against discipline and the body in Singapore.

In 1998 Singapore, at the peak of the Asian Financial Crisis, a man and his family spend their final day on Earth at Sentosa island. There, he comes to confront the peculiar closeness between salvation and terror.

The Cup (2020)

In a surreal tableau, a man with a brewing machine for a head, discontent with the bland taste of the brew from his own body, attempts to do what he can to improve its flavour.

The Cup is a meditation on being in the world, upon the flattening out of life as we know and image it during the pandemic. It was shot and produced while the filmmakers were confined to their home during the lockdown period in Singapore.
